Get a video card with an s-video out. That's how I got internet on my old crt tv.

The newer ones don't anymore.

Yeah I'm not sure what you need for a video card. Whatever I've had was sufficient for web browsing and n64 emulators.

Scoot your wheel as close to the TV as you can, and adjust your FOV accordingly. You'll thank me later.

I wish, but there's no way that I'm gonna pay yearly for a game even though iRacing is amazing. I prefer Live For Speed, Racer The Real Deal, Enthusia, RFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa (can't wait to finally buy it!!!!) over this.

yeah, I grabbed iracing for a 3 month deal at $9. I may eventually move over to Rfactor2 or AC, I'm not sure. I hear nothing touches iracing for multiplayer so I went with that for now.

Wooooah, tell me about your rig. I want my own sim rig but don't want to have to invest a kidney or a lung to do it!!! :)

If I could McGyver it to work with flight sims I'd be double happy (because I'm that crazy guy who has tried flying an Antonov AN-225 around the world in X Plane and FSX)! ;)

I can't believe I'm not the only person in the world who thinks enthusia was kind of a good game.

It is a great game IMO. Much better physics by far than GT4 at the time.

I'm more of a drifter...so iRacers would hate my guts if I ever drifted in the servers. Aren't they serious as hell over there?

I did mine out of PVC. Check on the web for DIY PVC Racing rigs. I've done mine for about 150-200$ worth of materials including the seat.

yeah, weirdly I thought gt3 had better physics than 4. Enthusia had major problems with straight line stability when playing with a controller, but play it with a wheel and the physics really shine. Plus, dat dragon pass...

Gt4 kinda broke my heart...full lock...e brake....still understeering. So many features/cars/tracks...but no drifting allowed.

Drifting is possible with the right setups that you can find on the web...but the physics still sucked! I felt like driving a cardboard. I actually would like to see an Enthusia 2 in the near future!

yeah, I've seen drifting videos with gt4, but drifting should feel natural in a video game, if I have to MAKE it work, it's probably a sign that the physics are bad.

I'm pretty bummed though, I got a fanatec csr wheel to drift with for gt6 and forza, only to find that gt6 doesn't fully support the wheel and that M$ has decided to make the xbone incompatible with last gen wheels. Gt6 is particularly frustrating as the wheel works like a charm until you get sideways at which point the car becomes nearly impossible to catch.

I would love an enthusia 2 but honestly, you're the only other person I know who appreciates that game for what it is. I wish there were more sims out there with good enough physics engines to support both drifting and racing on the same engine.

I talked about it yesterday, but try Live For Speed's Demo. You don't even need to buy the game to actually enjoy it, the Demo gets you 2 cars, 1 open wheel, 1 track and online gaming. The servers are amazing and there's a lot event. You got Rally, Drifting, Circuit Racing, Legal Cruise and even Drag racing. You can mod the skins of the cars, change the sounds and every wheels works on it. It doesn't even demand much on the computer too, so there's ZERO lag. http://www.lfs.net/

alright, I'll give it a try when I get home tonight. It's one of the few racing sims I haven't ever tried, and judging from your comments you and I have very similar tastes in racing games.

That's not bad, not bad at all!!! Usually I see people building $1,000+ rigs, which is a whole lotta nope!

Absolutely! You can assume I've tried all the really mainstream stuff, but I'm pretty light on pc games since I've only owned a PC for a couple of years. I've got assetto corsa and I've tried rfactor 1. But as far as actual sims (I don't count the shift games) I think that's just about it for games I've tried On pc.

Thanks man!

I was about to do it someday...but I'm quite ok with my rig. PVC with ABS cement is solid as a rock! Just keep in mind that you won't be able to disassemble the chassis of it after.

Time to replace the relic with something a little more modern. Something that will play nicely with DVI / HDMI

Add to your list RFactor 2 with the vintage F1 car, you feel the suspension working, it's amazing. Then you got Richard Burns Rally as the BEST rally game ever. Mod it to fully enjoy it. Get Grand Prix Legends and mod it with the latest graphic, physics and wheel support updates or try the 2004 update Grand Prix Legends demo just to get a feel of how good it was back in 2004. You can actually blow the engine if you overrev it. You got Racer The Real Deal which is great if you don't mind adding cars and tracks manually. The others that I tried felt...arcadish.

awesome thanks. I've never even heard of racer the real deal. I had GPL, but I think I modded it to the point where it kinda stopped working, but I should reinstall it now that I have a nicer wheel, plus I never modded the physics, just added tracks and cars. I'll also have to get a hold of rbr, I've heard it's really good from a number of people, plus I was a fan of his back in the day.

yeah unless it is practice run, I bet there are some guys who host private sessions for drifting too, likely in clubs or leagues or whatever. I am not a big drifter myself and prefer road racing, though iracing probably wouldn't be your cup of tea then.
